Balasore: A man reportedly stabbed a minor girl with a knife, leaving her critically injured after she resisted his rape bid. The incident occurred at Hasimpur under Madhupura Panchayat in the district Friday.

The girl was later discovered in a pool of blood on the road.

Preliminary probe revealed the girl had developed a relationship with the man over their telephonic conversations that started with a ‘wrong number call’ and had been continuing since past few months. They, however, had not met each other.

Yesterday, the man  lured her to elope with him. When the girl reached the spot they had proposed to meet, the youth took her to an isolated place and tried to rape her. When the girl resisted and denied to proceed with the sexual act before marriage, the enraged man took out a knife and stabbed her several times.

Later on, some local boys rescued and rushed her to Baliapal Hospital. Later she was shifted to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital after her condition deteriorated. The rescuers also immediately informed the girls’ family members after collecting their phone number from her.

On being tipped off, Baliapal police also rushed to the spot, initiated an investigation and a manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding accused.

According to sources, while the minor girl is from in a village under Badasa Panchayat of Baliapal police station limits, the boy is stated to be from Balasore town area.

In her statements at the hospital, the girl said, “The boy after our elopement revealed that his family members didn’t like me and hence there is no chance of marriage. However, he said that he would also not allow anyone to marry me. He attempted to have physical relationship with me and when I objected, he all at once attacked me with a blade. Later he fled the spot on his motorcycle.”

The girl also revealed that a love affair developed between her and the boy identified as Munna from Balasore area.

She further added that the accused was also in touch with the girl’s family members over phone. Before the incident, some woman talked to her and cajoled her to come to their home with the boy committing to solemnize their marriage this May 25.

However, blind faith in the stranger boy’s love cost dearly to this minor girl. While she eloped with the boy, her objection to physical relationship before marriage resulted in the attack on her. The accused allegedly slit her private parts, throat, left side ear with a blade and fled leaving her in a pool of blood on the deserted road at Hasimpur under Madhupura Panchayat.
