Youth abducted in Bhadrak; police arrests 4 for demanding Rs 45 lakh for release

Bhadrak: Four persons were arrested Wednesday evening in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a youth and for demanding Rs 45 lakh as ransom which had taken place about two weeks ago at Bahudarada village under Rural police limits in Bhadrak.

The police have seized pistol and weapons from the accused persons.

According to a source, the victim identified as Gajendra Singh of Bahudarada village was abducted by some miscreants September 19. Later, the miscreants called his family members over mobile phone and demanded Rs 45 lakh for his release.

However, the victim’s family members lodged a written report against miscreants at the local police station, acting on which the police launched a probe leading to arrest of the four accused.

Further investigation is underway and police has been trying to find out criminal background of the accused, if any, the source said.
