Rayagada: A 19-year-old drowned in river Nagavali as his legs slipped while he was taking a selfie on a stone near the river on the outskirts of the town in the wee hours of Friday.
The deceased was identified as, Rayabarapu Sairam, a resident of Alugubilir under Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh.
According to sources, Sairam along with three of his friends came to the hanging bridge on Chekaguda-Mariguda road on the outskirts of Rayagda at 4 am. Later, they went to the river where his leg slipped while taking a selfie and drowned.
The locals and Sairam’s friend rescued him from the river and rushed him Rayagada district headquarters hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. On being informed, the police reached the DHH and seized the body. A youth had slipped off from the hanging bridge, while taking a selfie November 6.
