Aul: A man was allegedly hacked to death while his brother-in-law sustained critical injuries over alleged past enmity at Dahianta village under Aul police limits in Kendrapara district, late Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Amit Kumar Patra of Sahira village under this police limits.
According to sources, Amit along with his brother-in-law Sanjay Jena had gone to Dahianta village to attend a religious programme. The two were returning home when he had a heated brawl with a youth Rashmiranjan Roul at Dahianta Square. Soon Rashmiranjan lost his cool and assaulted Amit with a sharp-edged weapon. Sanjay was also attacked when he tried to save his brother-in-law.
Amit and Sanjay, bleeding profusely, were immediately rushed to Pattamundai hospital where doctors declared Amit ‘brought dead’, informed sources.
Sanjay, who also sustained grievous injuries in the attack, is undergoing treatment at the hospital and his condition is stated to be critical. The exact reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained while Amit’s kin suspects it to be a fall-out of political rivalry.
