Youth held for raping 7-yr-old in Kendrapara 

Kendrapara: Derabish police Sunday arrested a 22-year-old youth Panchanana Nath of Palei village for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl after luring her with money, informed Umakant Nayak, IIC of Derabish police station.

According to police sources, while the ill-fated seven-year-old girl was going to see the Durga puja pandal at Nalu Baba’s Ashram Saturday afternoon, the youth Panchanan Nath allegedly lured the minor girl to come with him to buy her chocolates. As a result, the minor girl went with Panchanan to his house. The youth later raped her by laying her in his bed. The victim girl later brought the matter to her parents.

The parents of the victim girl lodged an FIR at Derabish police station. Acting on the FIR, Derabish police registered a case bearing case no-157/19 under Section 376 (A) (B) of IPC; Section 6 of POCSO Act against Panchanan Nath. Derabish police later arrested the accused youth and produced him Sunday before the SDJM court of Kendrapara where he was remanded into jail custody after his bail plea was rejected by court, added Nayak.
