Rajkanika: Tension erupted in front of Rajkanika police station in Kendrapara district after family members, of a youth who has been murdered, with locals staged protest by placing the body on the entrance gate.
According to reports, Binod (30), son of Surendra Bai of Baisahi of Olabhar village under this police limits was killed over past enmity Friday.
Family members of the deceased youth lodged a written complaint with police following which a case was registered in this connection and his body was sent to Aul community health centre for autopsy.
After post-mortem, the body reached the village following which irate family members and villagers staged a protest in front of the police station demanding immediate arrest of the culprit(s).
However, the agitation was withdrawn after police and Aul MLA Debendra Sharma pacified the mob by assuring them, immediate arrest of the accused.
While sources said that Binod was murdered for meddling in his sister-in-law’s illicit affair with her lover, police is yet to capture the accused that is still at large. He was allegedly killed by his sister-in-law and her beau, sources said.
Police have started an investigation into the incident and launched a manhunt to snatch the offender.
The matter came to light after a video of the attack went viral. In the video, the victim Binod is seen being attacked in broad day light in presence of villagers.
