Rourkela: A youth was brutally stabbed to death late Friday evening here over a business deal. The accused later surrendered before the police. According to sources, one Nihar Acharya, a resident of Bartoli near NIT Rourkela, was murdered at around 9.30 pm, Friday near Sector-20 market. The accused identified as Kewal Singh surrendered before Sector19 police after committing the crime. Kewal and Nihar had some business agreements. They were doing land dealings and had issues over payment for over a month.
Witnesses said there was a heated argument over payment Friday. Reportedly when Nihar assaulted Kewal, an enraged Kewal immediately brought out a sharpedged weapon from his pocket and attacked Nihar. He repeatedly stabbed Nihar on his abdomen, chest, thigh, and back. The assault was so brutal and vicious that the deceased collapsed there. Soon Kewal escaped the scene anticipating public outrage.
Later, he went and surrendered before Sector-19 police with the murder weapon. Meanwhile, locals and friends of Nihar immediately admitted him to Ispat General Hospital (IGH). Doctors there declared him dead. Soon Sector-19 police informed Jhirpani police as the crime took place under the latter’s jurisdiction. Police are tight-lipped about the crime.
