Youth suspected a black magic practitioner, offered poisoned prasad, hospitalised

Malkangiri: An attempt of murder was made on life of a youth, suspecting him to be practicing black magic, by making him to have poison laced ‘prasad’. The incident was reported from Bandhaguda village under Biralaxmanpur panchayat in this district.

The victim, Tripati Hantal, is now undergoing treatment at Malkangiri district headquarters hospital (DHH).

According to sources, villagers of Bandhaguda village had been suspecting Tripati, son of Jagannath Hantal, to be a black magician. The villagers were frequently falling sick one after another and for this, they held Tripati responsible.

The villagers, in their bid to get rid of Tripati, consulted a black magic practitioner of another village and thereafter planned to eliminate him by offering him poisoned ‘prasad’.

As per the plan, a puja was arranged in the village Wednesday. The villagers who ganged up together against Tripati did not let him and some other villagers get an inkling of the conspiracy.

The day when the puja was being observed in the village, villagers were asked to come with a coconut. Like any other villagers Tripati also arrived at the place with a coconut.

As per the allegation of Tripati, there were ‘prasad’ on two plates. While ‘prasad’ from one plate was being distributed among the villagers, one plate was kept covered with leaves. And when his turn came, he was given ‘prasad’ from that separate plate.

10 minutes after having ‘prasad’, Tripati fell on the ground losing his consciousness. Family members immediately rushed him to Pandripani health center. As his condition deteriorated with blood coming out through nostrils, mouth, urinal and anus, he was shifted to Malkangiri DHH.

Now he is recuperating. Tripati though accused villagers like Gaurang Khila, Gangadhar Majhi, Gupteswar Khila, Gangadhara Khila, Radhashyam Khara and Bhabanishankar Acharya of hatching a conspiracy to kill him, he has not registered any police complaint as yet.

Attempts were failed to contact the villagers whose names Tripati mentioned for their opinion.
