Balasore: A mob thrashed a youth mercilessly after being tied to a tree for allegedly stealing a mobile phone at Gantiyad village of Jaleswar block in this district Monday.
According to reports, the youth from Simulia village had allegedly stolen a mobile phone from one of the houses and then went to another house and spent Sunday night there.
Local residents, who came to know about the theft, caught hold of the youth and tied him to a tree before beating him up.
The whole incident was recorded and the video was later uploaded on social media sites.
Meanwhile, no police complaint has been made till the filing of the report.
