ZP chief, officials trek to inaccessible Tenda village

Kaptipada: Tenda village is an inaccessible village in Kaptipada block of Mayurbhanj. The tribal village is far from development. One can access the village only by walking five km through hilly terrain from Sripadamanjaripur panchayat.

The tribal residents were elated when Zilla Parishad Chairperson Sujata Murmu visited the village recently. She was accompanied by the Project Administrator of ITDA, Bidhan Chandra Ray, an Assistant Engineer, ZP Member Tikamani Nayak and former Sarpanch Markand Hembram.

The village which comes under Kalamgadia panchayat has multiple problems like lack of roads, electricity, education and healthcare facilities. The residents belong to Kolha community. The village is on the border of Hatadihi block in Keonjhar.

After walking five km, the ZP chief and officials reached the village. They stayed at Chandan Creek where residents came to greet them. The creek is said to be the main obstruction to the development of the village.

They interacted with people and got to know their problems. The village has no school. Village kids have no chance of studying after being taken care at the Anganwadi centre, locals said.

Cots are the only means to transport patients from the village for treatment. Due to lack of awareness, people seek refuge in sorcery and witchcraft to cure diseases.

The ZP chief assured the villagers that steps will be taken for the all round development of the village which has 30 tribal families.

The visit of the ZP chief and officials has brightened hopes about the village’s development. The PA of ITDA said that if a road is laid development of the village is possible.
